About The Position

Hyundai Design Center is seeking a Chief Modeler to efficiently build exterior/interior models with good surface quality and highlights. The role involves rebuilding models from clay model scans into NURBS surfaces, participating in design reviews with creative modeling solutions, and working with designers during the vision phase using sub-d modeling software. The Chief Modeler will also prepare models for clay milling and 3D printing, act as a project leader overseeing each project while fulfilling modeling duties, and mentor lower-level modelers to elevate the team's skill level. This position serves as a liaison between design, engineering, clay, and digital teams, fostering good working relationships. The ideal candidate will have a spirit of learning, quick thinking, adaptability to unpredictable conditions, and be a team player ready to assist wherever needed.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
• 10+ years of experience as a digital modeler for major automotive manufacturer

Nice To Haves

• Exterior modeling expert is preferred.
• Class A level modeling experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently build exterior/interior models with good surface quality/highlights.
• Rebuild models from clay model scan into NURBS surfaces.
• Participate in Design reviews reacting to design feedback with creative modeling solutions.
• Work with designers during vision phase of design using sub-d modeling software such as Blender or Alias.
• Prepare models for clay milling and or 3D printing.
• Project leader, oversee each project while fulfilling modeling duties.
• Step up to temporarily manage the team when manager is away.
• Occasional travel out of state or country for auto shows, conferences or training.
• Mentor to lower level modelers, help elevate the skill level of our team.
• Liaison between design, engineering, clay and digital team, foster good working relationships.
• Spirit of learning, quick thinking, adaptable to unpredictable conditions and situations.
• Team player, be ready to help out wherever there is need.
