About The Position

Responsible for the preventive diagnostic, treatment and referral care of all MedNorth Health Center patients within the scope of their training and approved privileges. Accountable for the management, delivery and quality of all center provided health care services. Works cooperatively and effectively with the Chief Executive Officer, utilizing a balanced approach that includes the philosophy of MedNorth Health Center as well as the perspectives of all disciplines involved in the Centers health services.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina
  • Completion of an approved residency training program in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
  • Must be Board eligible or certified
  • Two years or more experience in patient care delivery/management and supervision and administration.
  • Ability to supervise the medical department's personnel both clinically and administratively
  • A strong positive community/public health orientation and ability to demonstrate sincere concern for the welfare of all people served by the Center.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Teamwork and communication skills essential
  • Treat all patients, co-workers, and managers with courtesy and respect
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other Center personnel and health care providers.
  • Must be able to identify a problem, identify possible solutions, make a decision on one of the possible solutions, implement the decision, and evaluate the results.
  • Ability to speak English fluently
  • North Carolina Medical License.
  • Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
  • (BLS) Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • The ability to speak other languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with responsibilities and duties contained in the current contract between the Chief Medical Officer and MedNorth Health Center.
  • Coordinates the development of MedNorth Health Centers patient health Care Plan, and oversees the process.
  • Establishes, modifies health care standards and protocols for each service described in MedNorth Health Centers Health Care Plan.
  • Establishes appropriate systems to assure the quality of patient care, and based on the communities health care needs.
  • Implements all Federal initiatives pertinent to patient care.
  • Participates in the process of budget development and in financial management decisions as they affect clinical activities.
  • Supervises the preparation of clinical reports, required by funding sources to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Participates in the periodic review of practice management functions, such as telephone triage, patient flow, outreach services, laboratory, pharmacy, follow-up on missed appointments, referral tracking.
  • Participates in periodic management review by project administration.
  • Arranges and conducts regular meetings of clinical providers.
  • Represents clinical management in health center administrative meetings.
  • Participates in the development of health risk management protocols.
  • Assists in the interviewing and recruitment of clinical staff.
  • Supervises either directly or indirectly through subordinates, members of the health care provider staff.
  • Coordinates and assures appropriate continuing education, orientation and in-service.
  • Supervises the implementation and operation of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Presents reports/updates on health and quality assurance matters to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
  • Formulates and recommends changes in clinical programming which are deemed necessary based on the analysis of clinical data, changes in health behavior, epidemiology, or changes in the community.
  • It is an essential job element that everyone be compliant with the full law and fully cooperate with the compliance program without fear of retaliations from the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures as well as applicable law.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for oversight of all clinical functions.
  • The CMO will work closely with the Quality Improvement Coordinator to develop and monitor the Clinical Performance Improvement measures.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to attend work on a daily basis and to be at work on time.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to be a team player.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to report absences in accordance with personnel policies and procedures.
  • The Chief Medical Officers work is expected to be accurate, neat, and thorough, and completed on time.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to have a positive attitude, be cooperative, and considerate of others, and maintain professionalism at all time with patients and staff.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to be dependable and is expected to accept responsibility for assignments and duties given.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to dress in a professional manner and adhere to all safety standards.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to develop the rotation schedule for the after hour call coverage.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to participate in staff meetings.
  • The Chief Medical Officer is expected to maintain confidentiality.
