About The Position

Baptist Health La Grange is seeking a Vice President, Chief Medical Officer. This role will be 80% CMO duties and 20% clinical practice. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a key leadership position responsible for building strong, collaborative relationships with the medical staff, executive team, and hospital leadership. This leader will promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement, creating an environment where all team members can provide exceptional, patient-centered care. The CMO will collaborate with administrative and operational leaders to drive clinical excellence throughout the organization. As a member of the Executive Team, the CMO will contribute to strategic priorities that support physicians and the organization. This role will lead and coordinate physician-focused initiatives, including quality improvement, peer review, clinical effectiveness, and resource stewardship, ensuring high standards of care and regulatory compliance. The CMO will serve as an ambassador for Baptist Health La Grange, representing the organization within the community and on system-wide committees and service lines to strengthen alignment and advance the mission of delivering outstanding healthcare.

Requirements

  • Board certified physician with current state license.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical and administrative staff leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in patient quality and safety.
  • Experience with CMS, ACHC and/or Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Experience in formulation and implementation of clinical practice guidelines and performance improvement activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital Medicine or a surgical/medical specialty provided at Baptist Health La Grange is the preferred physician discipline.
