Founded in 1977 as the Senior Care Action Network, SCAN began with a simple but radical idea: that older adults deserve to stay healthy and independent. That belief was championed by a group of community activists we still honor today as the “12 Angry Seniors.” Their mission continues to guide everything we do. Today, SCAN is a nonprofit health organization serving more than 500,000 people across Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington, with over $8 billion in annual revenue. With nearly five decades of experience, we have built a distinctive, values-driven platform dedicated to improving care for older adults. Our work spans Medicare Advantage, fully integrated care models, primary care, care for the most medically and socially complex populations, and next-generation care delivery models. Across all of this, we are united by a shared commitment: combining compassion with discipline, innovation with stewardship, and growth with integrity. At SCAN, we believe scale should strengthen—not dilute—our mission. We are building the future of care for older adults, grounded in purpose, accountability, and respect for the people and communities we serve. About myPlace Health myPlace Health was founded in 2021 by mission-driven healthcare leaders and organizations that are committed to drastically improving health outcomes, quality and experience for vulnerable older adults and frail seniors. We are an integrated care delivery organization that specializes in providing personalized care and coverage to older adults who wish to remain safely living in their homes and communities for as long as possible, rather than living in a nursing facility. Our mission is simple: to enable seniors to live the independent lives they deserve. The primary ways in which we pursue our mission are through capitated arrangements with government payers, such as Medicare and Medicaid under the PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) model, and as a value-based provider working in partnership with local health plans. We are building a mission-driven team that shares our passion for redefining the way older adults experience care as they “age in place” in the community. This is a unique opportunity to take on one of our country’s most challenging healthcare problems and it is a unique moment in time to join us as we scale up to spread our mission across markets. The Job As a Chief Medical Officer (CMO), you will play an integral leadership role for the interdisciplinary care teams to achieve our mission of enabling seniors to live the independent lives they deserve. You will work closely with and oversee care teams across the assigned region to provide high quality care and deliver an outstanding experience to all participants. The CMO is responsible for oversight of clinical operations and is the accountable medical leader for health outcomes and quality results delivered within the assigned market(s). The CMO is ultimately responsible for the delivery and quality of participant care, for clinical outcomes, and for the implementation, as well as oversight, of the quality improvement program for the centers and region. Along with oversight for the interdisciplinary care teams (IDTs) across the region, this leader will provide direct patient care and coach IDT team members to ensure that the highest quality care is delivered to our participants. The CMO will also play a critical external-facing role in engaging with our provider network partners, community-based organization partners, and corporate sponsors.
