The Chief Medical Executive (CME) is a key member of the Hospital’s Senior Administrative Team with primary activities in medical staff relations, quality of care, patient safety, care continuity, patient experience, and Division/system leadership. This role reports directly to the Division CMO and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Nurse Executive (CNE), and local and Sutter System Quality Teams to ensure the delivery of accessible patient-centered, high-quality, safe and equitable care. The CME plays a vital role in care integration and aligning local initiatives with Division and System strategies.

Requirements

  • Doctorate: Medical degree or DO degree with an active medical license
  • CA Physician Licensure eligible
  • Previous experience in a leadership role in a medical staff structure, such as functioning as a Medical Executive Committee member.
  • At least five years’ experience as department chair, committee chair, medical director or chief of staff.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong action planning skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, motivation and creativity in dealing with change, timeliness and attention to detail
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed health care environment.
  • Ability to read, write, hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
