About The Position

Cerity Partners' Norfolk wealth management practice oversees approximately $4 billion in client assets, and we're looking for a Chief Investment Officer & Equity Manager to lead the investment function that sits at the heart of it. This is a highly visible, senior leadership role for an experienced equity portfolio manager who wants to run their own quantitative model, build and mentor a talented investment team, and be the trusted voice on strategy for advisors, colleagues, and clients across the practice. You'll lead the practice's investment team, maintain active management of a quantitative equity model with a fundamental overlay, and oversee its implementation across several thousand client accounts — including custom adjustments and tax-sensitive considerations. You'll also serve as the primary point of coordination between the Norfolk practice and the firm's Investment Committee, and communicate investment strategy and portfolio positioning across a broad range of constituents, including senior investment professionals within the firm, the advisor community, colleagues within the practice, and clients.

  • Experience implementing investment strategies across a large book of client accounts, with the ability to apply custom, client-specific adjustments.
  • A strong understanding of tax-sensitive portfolio management, including cost basis and tax-loss harvesting considerations.
  • Experience managing or mentoring an investment team.
  • A demonstrated ability to coordinate investment strategy with an investment committee or similar governing body.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field; CFA designation required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across varied constituents, including senior investment professionals, advisors, colleagues, and clients.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Meets the attributes and expectations of a Principal or Senior Principal as defined in the CP Colleague Titles & Expectations framework.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
