About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Chief Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspection services as directed by the Project Engineer. This role involves providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate groups, establishing and maintaining comprehensive project records, and serving as a technical expert in field inspections and audits. The Chief Inspector will provide clear guidance for all inspections, set direction and goals for inspection teams, and act as an external spokesperson on technical project issues. This position also leads the development and implementation of audit strategies and safety protocols, and serves as a key point of contact for high-profile engagements as a member of the AECOM senior leadership team.

Requirements

HS plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT)
Metro-North Railroad Safety certification
Experience supervising / managing less experienced inspectors.
Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification, Engineer In Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
NICET certification (or ability to obtain required level).

Acts as external spokesperson on technical project issues, representing the company in meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
Leads the development and implementation of audit strategies for individual's area of expertise, continuously refining processes for maximum effectiveness.
Serves as key point of contact for high-profile engagements and member of AECOM senior leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Oversees the development and implementation of safety protocols for all inspection activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
