Requirements

  • Successful completion of a college diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in information technology, cyber security, or a related field.
  • Accredited cyber security certification required, such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
  • Minimum of Six (6) years of progressive experience in cyber security, information security, or related IT roles.
  • Extensive experience in cyber security governance, risk management, and strategic planning within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing cyber security risks, controls, and capabilities and identifying risk‑based improvement priorities.
  • Proven ability to provide expert advice and recommendations to senior management and support Board‑ or committee‑level discussions.
  • Strong ability to communicate cyber security risks and plans clearly in non‑technical, business‑focused language.
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment in complex and high‑risk situations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Risk‑based prioritization and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Experience in government, Crown corporations, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience aligning cyber security programs with enterprise risk management frameworks and regulatory obligations.
  • Experience managing third‑party and supply‑chain cyber security risks.
  • Language Profile: CBCC
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and direction for cyber security across the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA).
  • Working closely with CATSA’s Cyber Security and IT teams, IT leadership, and business stakeholders, the CISO strengthens the organization’s cyber security posture through practical, risk-based improvements.
  • Assessing current risks and capabilities.
  • Developing a refreshed, senior leadership/Board-ready Cyber Security Plan and multi-year roadmap aligned to business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory obligations.
  • Performing all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
