About The Position

Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (MHV), a $1.72 billion asset credit union serving over 95,000 members, is seeking a strategic, technology-focused executive to serve as its Chief Information Officer (CIO) in Kingston, NY. This executive leadership role will provide oversight for the organization's technology strategy, operations, infrastructure, data, business systems, software development, digital properties, and technology portfolio. The CIO will be instrumental in aligning technology capabilities and investments with business strategy, driving innovation and performance, and fostering a collaborative culture aligned with MHV's mission and values. As a C-Suite Executive, the CIO will partner with the Executive Management Team to shape and execute the credit union's strategic vision, focusing on organizational growth, operational performance, innovation, and enhancing member experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in technology leadership, with increasing responsibility for enterprise technology strategy, infrastructure, business systems, digital transformation, data, and technology operations.
  • General knowledge and appreciation of all aspects of the organization.
  • Achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree) is an alternative to a bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to work independently and produce highly accurate results while working on multiple projects within strict timelines.
  • Advanced verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office).
  • Above average interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to build cohesive, sustainable, high performance teams.
  • Candidates must be able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • A normal range of vision and hearing abilities required.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Candidates must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
  • Ability to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight for the organization’s technology strategy, operations, infrastructure, data, business systems, software development, digital properties, and technology portfolio.
  • Align technology capabilities and investments with business strategy, drive enterprise-wide innovation and performance, and foster a high-impact, collaborative culture.
  • Partner with the Executive Management Team to shape and execute the strategic vision for the credit union.
  • Collaborate with the CEO in creating a shared vision, providing strategy and leadership for sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the development, monitoring, and execution of the organization's strategic business plan, annual operating budget, and corporate scorecard.
  • Partner with the senior management team to develop, evaluate, and recommend policies, products, services, and processes.
  • Ensure consistent policy adherence, compliance with regulations, and effective execution of established procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market developments, and applicable regulations.
  • Lead and develop direct reports to achieve high performance, providing clear direction, coaching, and addressing employee relations and performance issues.
  • Strengthen operational resilience through robust cross-training and continuity within areas of responsibility.
  • Recommend and support talent decisions including hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, compensation, recognition, and development programs.
  • Champion the Credit Union’s mission and brand by embedding them into daily leadership and decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and industry groups.
  • Model collaboration and professionalism, supporting enterprise-wide initiatives and fostering a cohesive, high-performing culture.
  • Oversee the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization’s technology infrastructure and IT services, including networks, systems, end-user support, service management, security operations, and business continuity.
  • Ensure technology services are resilient, scalable, and responsive to organizational needs.
  • Lead the organization’s data and business systems strategy, ensuring data is accessible, trusted, secure, and effectively used.
  • Oversee business analysis, systems integration, reporting and analytics, process improvement, and the alignment of technology solutions with business requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for software development, application management, digital properties, and technology-enabled products and services.
  • Establish an effective application and digital roadmap that supports innovation, enhances user experience, and delivers scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions.
  • Lead the organization’s technology portfolio and project management disciplines to ensure strategic initiatives are properly prioritized, governed, resourced, and delivered.
  • Establish effective project and program management practices, monitor portfolio performance, manage dependencies and risks, and drive successful adoption and business outcomes.
