The Chief Information Officer (CIO) for OptumRx Pharmacy is a senior leader who oversees a global technology organization of more than 650 professionals, supporting a $50B+ pharmacy business. This role is responsible for driving business growth and providing strategic leadership in technology, engineering, data, and AI to advance the mission and goals of OptumRx Pharmacy. The CIO acts as a key partner to executive leadership, translating business priorities into scalable, secure, resilient, and innovative technology solutions. The position focuses on modernizing platforms, accelerating innovation, and nurturing world-class talent. Hybrid in MN/DC: This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including senior executive responsibility
  • Prior experience in a business-facing CIO or equivalent enterprise technology leadership role
  • Experience in pharmacy, healthcare, or highly regulated industry environments
  • Proven success leading large, global organizations of 500+ employees
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, highly matrixed environments
  • Solid track record partnering with executive leadership on business strategy, capital planning, and transformation initiatives
  • Success influencing and engaging C-suite stakeholders
  • Experience delivering highly scalable, secure, and available platforms using Agile and DevOps operating models
  • Deep understanding of automation, AI/ML, GenAI, and emerging technologies
  • Progressive talent leadership with ability to recruit, develop, and retain top technical and leadership talent
  • Results-oriented leader with strong problem-solving, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Disruptive and systems thinker with integrity and accountability
  • High emotional intelligence, resilience, curiosity, and learning agility
