About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for the firm’s financial stewardship, operational integrity, and long-term financial strategy. This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational management, ensuring the firm and its investment products operate efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with fiduciary obligations. The CFO will serve as a key partner to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors, partnering on strategic management of the firm, including annual and long-term planning, organic and inorganic growth goals and programs, compensation and benefit plan implementation, firm ownership transactions, and risk management. Requirements

  • CPA required; and/or MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility.
  • Wealth management, RIA, or professional services industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis, strategic forecasting, and capital allocation.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, business integration, and enterprise growth initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, treasury management, and internal controls.
  • Experience presenting financial strategy to Boards of Directors and Partners.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and influence cross-functional decision-making.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and executive communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to develop high-performing teams and foster accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all financial activities of the firm, including cash management, accounting, real estate insurance, accounts receivable, and vendor management.
  • Lead enterprise-wide strategic planning, including multi-year financial modeling, profitability optimization, workforce planning, and investment strategies aligned to business expansion objectives.
  • Collaborate regularly with executive leadership to grow assets, revenue, and EBITDA, and deliver a scalable, profitable operating model in both up- and down-market scenarios.
  • Deliver board-level financial reporting, scenario analysis, and strategic decision frameworks, enhancing governance and financial discipline. Manage certain shareholder financial communications, and long-term financial positioning.
  • Function as financial lead for M&A strategy, driving target identification, valuation, financial negotiations, due diligence, transaction structuring, and post-merger integration.
  • Provide oversight of Aspiriant’s mutual fund investment vehicles.
  • Lead the firm’s real estate activities, including lease management, office moves, and remodeling across the firm’s portfolio of offices.
  • Manage important banking relationships for the firm, covering deposit accounts, credit lines and long term borrowing facilities to support strategic growth, and balance sheet optimization.
  • Lead the Investor Relations function, providing key information and reporting in support of 90+ partner owners, and oversee all entity distributions and investor share transactions.
  • Lead risk management for the firm, overseeing audit, tax, treasury, compliance, and controllership functions.
  • Promote robust internal control environments, strengthening governance, risk management, and audit readiness.
  • Partner closely with external auditors, legal counsel, and advisers to ensure flawless execution of regulatory obligations.
