About The Position

Eugene School District 4J is a large, complex school system serving nearly 14,000 students in Oregon’s southern Willamette Valley. The district has a long tradition of educational excellence, innovation, and community engagement, offering various programs including neighborhood and alternative programs, multiple language immersion pathways, and International Baccalaureate opportunities. The district values public education highly. Eugene 4J is seeking an accomplished financial leader to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer. The CFO reports directly to the Superintendent and is a key member of the executive leadership team. This role provides strategic leadership for the District’s financial and business operations and ensures its long-term fiscal well-being. The CFO is responsible for financial planning and forecasting, budgeting, accounting and reporting, internal controls, procurement, capital finance, and compliance, ensuring financial resources and decisions align with the District’s educational goals and strategic priorities. The CFO collaborates with the Superintendent and executive leadership team on strategic and operational initiatives, leads and develops the Financial Services team, and promotes modern, effective financial systems and processes with a focus on service and continuous improvement. Additionally, the CFO educates the Board, Budget Committee, staff, and community on complex financial information and the implications of financial decisions. Responsibilities
