About The Position

A2LA is a non-profit, public service membership organization offering compliance and accreditation services to organizations worldwide. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for shaping the organization's financial strategy and ensuring its long-term financial health and sustainability. The CFO provides leadership and oversight of all financial functions, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, risk management, and compliance. As a strategic partner to the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors, the CFO helps drive organizational growth, operational excellence, and informed decision-making through financial insight and business intelligence. This role ensures strong financial stewardship, effective governance, and the alignment of financial resources with organizational priorities and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including senior leadership roles
  • Proven experience developing and executing financial strategy
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and Boards of Directors
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance
  • Experience serving as a fiduciary to company-sponsored retirement plans and portfolio/investment management
  • Experience overseeing accounting, FP&A, and treasury functions
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience with ERP systems is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite or similar platforms is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for all financial functions, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and treasury
  • Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on financial performance and long-term planning
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Oversee cash flow management, investment strategies, and capital planning
  • Ensure integrity of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies
  • Oversee and direct annual financial audit and ensure timely completion and resolution of findings
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and key metrics to executive leadership and the Board
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, insurers, and consultants
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the Controller and Finance team
  • Drive financial performance through key performance indicators and data-driven decision-making
  • Lead enterprise risk management and compliance efforts including property and liability insurance portfolios
  • Champion process improvement and system enhancements across the finance department
  • Perform other duties and strategic initiatives as assigned
