About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer will work closely with Speer’s leadership team to oversee financial strategy, planning, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial decision-making. This is a senior leadership role for a finance professional with experience supporting growing service-based, technology, consulting, or professional services businesses. The successful candidate will bring both strategic and hands-on financial expertise, helping Speer improve financial visibility, strengthen internal controls, optimize profitability, and make informed decisions as the company scales. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong financial foundation that supports Speer’s long-term growth, operational maturity, and leadership decision-making.

Requirements

  • Senior finance leadership experience, preferably as a CFO, VP Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, or equivalent senior finance leader
  • Experience working with growing companies, preferably in technology, software development, consulting, digital services, or professional services
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and profitability analysis
  • Experience supporting project-based or service-based revenue models
  • Ability to translate financial information into clear, practical recommendations for leadership
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax coordination, financial controls, and business compliance
  • Experience improving financial systems, processes, reporting structures, and internal controls
  • Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and advisory skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or equivalent financial leadership experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level financial guidance to Speer’s leadership team, including recommendations related to growth planning, profitability, pricing, investment decisions, resource planning, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to help Speer anticipate financial needs, manage resources effectively, and support informed business decisions.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators that provide clear visibility into company performance, project profitability, margins, revenue, expenses, and cash position.
  • Oversee and improve finance-related processes, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, project financial tracking, expense management, payroll coordination, and internal reporting workflows.
  • Support pricing strategy, margin analysis, project budgeting, and profitability reviews for client engagements, proposals, retainers, and long-term partnerships.
  • Help ensure appropriate financial controls, compliance practices, tax coordination, insurance review, and risk management processes are in place as the company grows.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to the executive team, supporting strategic planning, board or investor-related reporting as needed, and major business decisions.
  • Support the continued development of Speer’s finance function by improving systems, reporting structures, internal controls, and operational processes as the company scales.
