About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, planning, and operations of the firm. This role partners closely with executive leadership to ensure financial integrity, long-term sustainability, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making across the organization. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. We are looking for a high-performing executive who can help the firm’s Managing Partner and executive leadership team guide the firm into the future through strategic financial advice; timely and accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting; strong risk management and compliance; and the innovative use of AI and technology to promote healthy growth, operational efficiency, and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Experience in professional services or legal industry preferred
  • Experience managing IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts) and client trust accounting strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Advanced analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the firm’s financial strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Collaborate with and communicate effectively to executive leadership and partners to support strategic initiatives and cost controls
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
  • Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements
  • Oversee management and compliance of client trust accounts (IOLTA), ensuring adherence to all applicable legal and ethical standards
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and capital planning
  • Oversee payroll, benefits funding, and compensation planning
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
  • Lead and develop the finance and accounting team
  • Oversee financial systems, internal controls, and process improvements
  • Collaborate with and communicate effectively to executive leadership and partners to support strategic initiatives and cost controls
