New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Management Team. The CFO will be responsible for the overall leadership, integrity, and operation of the organization's financial and accounting functions, providing strategic financial leadership while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day operations. This role oversees accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash and investment management, internal controls, audits, tax compliance, payroll, grant and contract financial management, cost allocation, and financial systems. The CFO ensures NMLA maintains accurate financial information, effective internal controls, and compliance with all relevant standards, laws, and regulations. Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other leadership, the CFO acts as a trusted financial advisor, translating complex financial information into practical guidance to support decision-making, resource stewardship, and long-term financial sustainability. As part of a small Finance Department, the CFO will also perform hands-on accounting and financial activities as needed.
