About The Position

CLA is looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer with Retail Industry experience for our growing CAAS group in Green Bay, WI. This role involves working with clients to set financial policy, leading financial administration, planning, and budgeting. The CFO will partner with client leadership on operational and strategic issues, provide recommendations based on financial analysis, and oversee longer-term budget planning and cost management. Responsibilities include monitoring budgets, presenting operational metrics, ensuring financial record systems are maintained, managing cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting, and coordinating audit activities. The role requires the ability to manage multiple client engagements effectively, build strong client relationships, develop an external business network, and become a service and industry thought leader. Additionally, the CFO will develop leadership and problem identification skills, learn external lender and investor communications, focus on internal communications, and handle capital planning, risk management, ratio and KPI analysis, and board of director interactions. Maintaining knowledge of client organizational policies, federal and state policies, and current accounting standards, along with an understanding of GAAP and industry-specific technical expertise, is crucial.

Requirements

  • 8 years relative work experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or equivalent.
  • Retail industry experience is highly preferred!
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Comfortable in fast paced environment and skilled in multitasking.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks (Online version) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works with client to set financial policy and is an active participant in, and driver of the overall strategy.
  • Leads financial administration, planning, and budgeting.
  • Frequently partners with client’s leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, providing recommendations based on financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Oversees longer-term budget planning and cost management.
  • Monitors progress of budgets and presents operational metrics.
  • Ensures financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds.
  • Manages cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
  • Coordinates audit activities.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple client engagements.
  • Builds strong client relationships and becomes a key member of client management team.
  • Ability to develop key external business network and becomes service and industry thought leader.
  • Build leadership and problem identification skills.

  • Primary focus on internal communications and activities.
