About The Position

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for setting goals and objectives for the development, establishment, and coordination of quality comprehensive services. The Chief Financial Officer directs the activities of professionals and support personnel in accordance with standards of practice established by Ephraim McDowell Health, the government, and health care regulatory agencies. Responsible for the system’s Finance, Information Services, Materials Management, Health Information Management, Cooperative Care, Business Office, and Patient Access departments. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

Requirements

  • Business related courses.
  • Computer skills.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Five plus (5+) years in a healthcare setting in Finance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services which foster the Organization’s mission and philosophy through customer service, mutual respect, team work, performance improvement, corporate compliance, and coordinates and assures completion of all activities.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to ensure that quality services are provided by an appropriate number of qualified and competent staff.
  • Manages the operation of the Organization within the fiscal and productivity guidelines of the System as established through the annual budget.
  • Provides strategic direction based on financial analysis and projections, and revenue/expense analysis, in the structuring of potential or new business transactions including acquisitions, physician practices, and joint ventures. Oversees service line profitability providing recommendations and strategies based on financial performance and trends.
  • Assumes 24 hour responsibility and accountability for providing leadership and management of the departments which results in quality services/patient care.
  • Develops/presents and oversees the budget and productivity process for the Organization.
  • Provides financial information to the Organization in order to make appropriate decisions.
  • Ensures that Organization complies with the financial reporting requirements of outside agencies such as IRS and CMS.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of care and services.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the Organization’s performance.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements free of material error and reviews with leadership and board of directors in a timely basis.
  • Maintains appropriate quality control programs.
  • Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services not provided by the departments.
  • Completes annual assessments of the extent to which the departments are fulfilling the mission, strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Provides effective leadership by establishing collaborated relationships at all levels, internally and externally, that develop innovations related to the Organization’s values.
  • Integrates the functions of Finance, Information Services, Materials Management, Health Information Management, Cooperative Care, Business Office, and Patient Access with the System’s overall primary objectives.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization.
  • Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.
