About The Position

The CFO is a hands-on financial leader responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day financial operations while driving strategic growth as the business scales from $35-100M in annual revenue with 100+ employees. The CFO also provides direct oversight of HR and IT, ensuring efficient operations, strong internal processes, and scalable systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA/MBA a plus)
  • 7–15 years of experience, with at least some in a small or mid-sized business
  • Strong hands-on experience in accounting and financial management
  • Experience overseeing HR and/or IT functions preferred
  • Hands-on problem solving and execution
  • Strong financial and operational acumen
  • Ability to simplify complex financial information
  • Leadership with a collaborative, “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach
  • Process improvement and systems thinking
  • Adaptability and resourcefulness

Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Partner with the CEO/owner on business strategy and decision-making
  • Participate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
  • Provide insight and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth plans
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Assess, evaluate and report on financial performance regarding long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Oversee end-to-end M&A processes including financial analysis, valuation, and stakeholder coordination
  • Oversee daily accounting functions (AP/AR, payroll, general ledger)
  • Supervise the job costing function to ensure production costs and variances are recorded properly.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs for the purpose of determining the accuracy of the standard cost.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and dashboards
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with basic accounting standards
  • Actively manage cash flow, receivables, and payables
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-control measures
  • Ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth
  • Maintain internal controls and manage financial risks
  • Oversee tax filings, insurance, and regulatory requirements
  • Work directly with external accountants/auditors as needed
  • Oversee HR operations including hiring, onboarding, and payroll
  • Oversee All Company Training activities
  • Manage benefits, compensation, and employee policies
  • Support employee relations and compliance with labor laws
  • Help build a positive, productive company culture
  • Manage key business systems (accounting, payroll, CRM, etc.)
  • Oversee IT vendors and service providers
  • Ensure basic cybersecurity, backups, and system reliability
  • Recommend and implement technology improvements
  • Serve as a key operational leader across departments
  • Improve processes and drive efficiency throughout the business
  • Provide financial acumen training for leaders, managers, and supervisors to strengthen their business and financial decision-making capabilities.
  • Wear multiple hats and fill gaps where needed
