About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a senior member of the executive leadership team at Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services. The CFO works closely with the President on strategic and operational decisions, setting the financial direction, evaluating growth opportunities, and ensuring the organization has the resources and discipline to execute. This role is responsible for financial strategy, performance, and stewardship to enable safe, profitable growth. The CFO leads all finance, accounting, treasury, and risk management functions, acting as a strategic partner to Operations, Pre-Construction, and Business Development to protect and expand margins across the project portfolio. The position leads Dashiell’s accounting and finance organization of approximately 25 professionals and is based in Houston, Texas, reporting to Dashiell’s President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, with significant time in EPC, construction, or infrastructure services.
  • Demonstrated success as a CFO or equivalent senior financial leader in a rapidly growing, project-driven, multi-site business.
  • Deep expertise in project-based financial management, including percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and contract risk.
  • Strong command of cash management and working capital optimization.
  • Experience leading ERP implementations or major system modernization efforts.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams in fast-paced, field-driven environments.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate financial insight into operational action.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style that earns trust with field and project teams, paired with a bias for action, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the financial strategy that enables safe, profitable growth aligned with the company’s long-range plan and parent-company objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial counsel to the President and executive leadership team on capital allocation, investment decisions, and enterprise risk.
  • Drive accountability for financial results across the organization, ensuring leaders at every level understand and own their financial performance.
  • Represent Dashiell’s financial position to the parent company and other key stakeholders.
  • Own the forecast cadence and accuracy for revenue, margin, and cash, and continuously improve forecast reliability.
  • Design and maintain the executive reporting scoreboard — a clear, timely, and action-oriented set of KPIs and dashboards for the leadership team.
  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling re-forecasts, ensuring alignment between project-level estimates and consolidated financial plans.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reviews with variance analysis, trend insights, and forward-looking commentary.
  • Lead cash management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization — including inventory and real estate planning — to keep the business funded for growth.
  • Drive billing and collections discipline by setting targets, monitoring aging, and escalating issues to protect cash conversion.
  • Develop and oversee the payables strategy, balancing supplier relationships with cash-flow objectives.
  • Partner with Operations and Pre-Construction on project pricing, risk quantification, and contract terms to protect and improve margins.
  • Establish and enforce financial guardrails for bid/no-bid decisions, change-order management, and project cost control.
  • Lead commercial risk review on major pursuits and contracts, including joint ventures and subcontractor arrangements.
  • Monitor project financial health, flagging margin erosion early and driving corrective action.
  • Manage credit risk across the customer portfolio by establishing credit policies, monitoring exposure, and approving credit terms on major accounts.
  • Set and maintain the governance framework, including policies, delegation of authority, approval matrices, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, parent-company requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Own the relationship with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Oversee insurance programs, risk transfer, and enterprise risk management in coordination with Legal and Operations.
  • Lead Dashiell’s accounting and finance organization of approximately 25 professionals.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing team; attract and retain top finance and accounting talent and build succession depth across key roles.
  • Set clear goals and accountability across the organization, conduct performance reviews and development planning, and cultivate a culture of accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Align finance and accounting structure and resources to support the company’s growth and evolving operational needs.
  • Champion ERP, business intelligence, and automation initiatives — including platforms such as IFS, JDE, and OneStream — that increase speed, accuracy, and insight.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, eliminating manual work and reducing cycle times.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions that scale with the business and improve decision-making across the enterprise.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
