Chief Financial Officer

About The Position

ViaQuest is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance organization for its behavioral health division. This is a build-and-lead role. The company is investing in a new finance infrastructure, and the CFO will have the mandate and authority to construct the team, systems, and processes needed to support a $100 million and growing healthcare services platform. This is not a maintenance role. The ideal candidate is a technically hands-on accounting leader who owns the close and the audit, builds controls that hold, and develops the team that executes them. The CFO will work closely with the CEO, the private equity sponsor, and operational leadership to drive financial performance, enable strategic transactions, and position the company for long-term value creation.

Requirements

  • Senior accounting leadership experience as a CFO, Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, or VP of Accounting, with direct ownership of the monthly close, the external audit relationship, and the accounting team.
  • 10+ years of healthcare accounting experience.
  • Controllership foundation: held a Controller or Chief Accounting Officer role, or directly owned the close, the audit relationship, and the accounting team as CFO.
  • Demonstrated experience building or rebuilding a finance function, including controls implementation, close discipline, and team development.
  • Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, revenue cycle management, and multi-site healthcare operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior CFO title preferred.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting foundation, ideally with audit experience at a national firm.
  • Experience in private equity-backed or institutionally owned businesses, including lender management and board-level reporting.
  • Exposure to financially challenging environments: turnarounds, post-diligence cleanup, or organizations in transition.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely GAAP financial statements, with a disciplined close of under 20 days established within the first quarter.
  • Design and implement robust internal controls, including segregation of duties, disbursement controls, and delegation of authority.
  • Establish documented accounting policies, accrual methodology, and reconciliation cadence.
  • Own the external audit relationship and drive audit readiness across the organization.
  • Lead and develop the finance organization across accounting, FP&A, and revenue cycle management.
  • Complete a structured review of the accounting team and establish the path for the Controller function.
  • Assess the revenue cycle management function, understand its strengths and gaps, and provide active financial oversight.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team on all financial matters.
  • Partner with the IDD Division CFO to implement joint best practices across the system.
  • Drive cost-to-serve transparency, margin analysis by location, and financial support for new market growth.
  • Provide clear, data-driven insights for decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Manage the lender relationship, covenant compliance, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting for the board, the sponsor, and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare the finance organization to support future capital events and withstand rigorous financial scrutiny from lenders, buyers, and auditors.

Benefits

  • Competitive executive compensation package, including base salary, a performance-based annual bonus, and long-term incentive participation tied to value creation.
