About The Position

CityBus is seeking a strategic financial leader with a passion for public transportation and making a positive impact. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all financial operations, including planning, analysis, budgeting, reporting, risk management, and compliance, ensuring fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability. This role serves as the CEO's key business partner, interpreting the financial landscape, providing proactive insights on grants and funding, and guiding leadership and the Board through complex decisions. The CFO will be instrumental in navigating economic growth by investing wisely and periods of uncertainty by developing creative strategies and long-term plans to protect the organization's mission. CityBus is the public transit agency serving the greater Lafayette, Indiana area, committed to providing essential mobility with kindness and compassion, and contributing to the region's economic development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior financial management role.
  • Strategic financial leadership skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights.
  • Confidence navigating public or government funding, grants, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to act as a CEO's business partner, bringing data, challenging assumptions, surfacing risks, and pushing leaders on financial decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred.
