About The Position

The Chief Fiduciary Officer for Texas Regional Bank’s Trust and Wealth Management division will be responsible for the prudent and proper administration of all accounts for the division where TRB or one of its affiliates serves in a fiduciary capacity, particularly as trustee of revocable or irrevocable trusts and personal representative of decedent’s estates. The Chief Fiduciary Officer will serve as the functional leader for a statewide team of trust officers responsible for fulfilling the division’s fiduciary duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • J.D or CTFA required
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with either a financial institution or in private practice for a law firm focused on estate planning, trust and estate administration, or fiduciary litigation with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Sound understanding of fiduciary risk
  • Exceptional writing, interpersonal and client service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving, team-based environment
  • Proven team player with the ability to effectively collaborate with others
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Suite of applications
  • Maintenance of confidentiality
  • Available to travel when necessary.
  • Must be able to be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop a team of professionals that are dedicated to administering trusts and estates in a fiduciary capacity as this person will have management responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures to ensure that Texas Regional Bank makes prudent fiduciary decisions across the business, including with respect to new business review, administration of accounts in accordance with the relevant governing document, and overall risk management for the division.
  • Partner with the division’s executive team to drive growth and profitability by participating in the business development process, helping avoid losses, and contributing to a positive team-oriented environment where fiduciary decisions are made carefully and with appropriate diligence.
  • Contribute to public commentary and analysis on behalf of the division with respect to estate planning and other advisory topics.
  • Expected to be a key contributor in operational strategy for the division. Including but not limited to decisions around selection of key vendors and outsourcing solutions, appropriate and efficient management of trust assets by investment professionals on the TRB wealth management team, workflow planning, and streamlining committee and other approvals where appropriate.
  • Supervise responses to requests from internal and external audits or examinations and help ensure any questions or comments are appropriately addressed.
  • Contribute to public discourse on relevant fiduciary and estate planning topics in a manner that enhances the brand of Texas Regional Bank among key centers of influence.
  • Contribute to the overall division growth.
  • Establish procedures to ensure investment policies are consistently followed across the Trust business.
  • Enhance the client experience by providing exceptional client service, supporting department functions.
  • Support and promote the Bank vision, mission and core values, organizational structure and policies and procedures.
  • Contribute excellent analysis, observation and decision-making skills.
  • Maintain a high degree of focus, with ability to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with Board members, officers, employees, and members of the business and civic community.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed when under stress - Individual should be able to work in a fast paced, evolving environment and perform at times in high pressure situations.
  • Provide strong, compassionate and visible leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers, and prospects.
  • Comply with federal and state regulations and all established bank policies and procedures.
