About The Position

Reporting to the JHS Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the Board and other management to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. The CEO will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance. They will engage in the development of the corporation's programs and short-term and long-term planning. The CEO will cultivate relationships and collaborate with Medical Staff members and those concerned with the rendering of professional services, to ensure continued high-quality patient care. They will ensure the organization is operated according to the authority conferred by the Board of Directors and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The CEO will ensure the organization's programs, services, sites, and departments have effective leadership and the goals and directives of the organization are effectively communicated. They will ensure those staff providing care, treatment, or services have the required qualifications and competencies and recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide such care, treatment or services. The CEO will ensure the organization's performance improvement and integrated patient safety program is implemented and has established priorities and the organization measures, assesses, and adjusts priorities in response to unusual or urgent events. The CEO will perform such other duties, as the governing board(s) may deem necessary.

  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentation on controversial or complex topics to the Board and outside parties.
  • Bachelors and/or MA degree (BS, BA, MA); or ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing, must be able to communicate clearly and in a controlled manner to the media and to employees
  • Relates cooperatively and constructively in all interaction during daily activities.
  • Needs functional PC skills
  • Knowledgeable and competent to perform essential functions.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of personalities with whom the employee comes into contact with, both pleasant and irate.
  • Ability to visually and audibly perform all essential functions.
  • Moderate to high amount of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Minimum lifting requirement of 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, and chemical products.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and expertise.
  • Must meet minimum requirement of the performance standards outlined in the Senior Leadership Evaluation forms and in this job description.
  • Must meet all requirements as established by hospital policies and procedures.
