About The Position

The Chief Executive Officer leads Women4Change Indiana, a nonpartisan, statewide nonprofit C3/C4 organization whose mission is to equip Hoosiers to engage in democracy to improve outcomes for women through community-building and advocacy. This role works in close partnership with a Board of Directors and wears many hats – strategic, operational, financial, and programmatic – to advance the organization’s mission, ensuring alignment between long-term vision, programmatic impact, and organizational sustainability. This leader is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and leading a small, dedicated staff, fostering a culture grounded in equity and inclusion and reflecting the organization’s values. As Women4Change's primary public representative, the CEO elevates organizational visibility across Indiana, engages stakeholders, strengthens partnerships, and positions the organization as a trusted voice on issues affecting women, their families, and their communities. With strong business judgment, the CEO aligns financial resources with strategic priorities, ensuring both mission impact and long-term viability. Working with the Board, staff, and key stakeholders, the CEO implements Women4Change's strategic priorities, evaluates outcomes, and adapts to evolving opportunities and challenges.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience in nonprofit, public, or private sector organizations
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational sustainability, and operational leadership
  • Proven fundraising experience, including major gifts and institutional funding
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and resource allocation
  • Experience working with or supporting governing boards
  • Ability to build partnerships across community, business, and government sectors
  • Strong communication and public engagement skills
  • Understanding of policy, advocacy, and civic engagement landscapes
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and collaborative leadership
  • Experience in statewide or multi-regional organizations preferred
  • This position requires a high level of engagement, visibility, and commitment to advancing Women4Change's mission across Indiana.
  • Expected to work in downtown Indianapolis three days per week.
  • Requires frequent evening and weekend presence at events across the state.

Responsibilities

  • Define and advance a clear, compelling vision for Women4Change that reflects its mission and values.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans, establish measurable goals, and ensure accountability through regular evaluation and reporting.
  • Drive organizational growth by securing funding and increasing organizational visibility and engagement, while balancing mission impact with financial sustainability.
  • Execute comprehensive fundraising efforts, expanding and diversifying revenue across individual, corporate, and foundation sources.
  • Cultivate major donors, strengthen existing relationships, and identify new funding opportunities.
  • Ensure sound financial management, oversee budgeting processes, and align resources with strategic priorities to support long-term organizational health.
  • Represent Women4Change with credibility, vision, and clarity across public, private, and civic sectors.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships, engage policymakers and community leaders, and foster coalitions that advance shared goals.
  • Strengthen the organization’s brand and visibility through effective communication, public engagement, and media presence.
  • Ensure that advocacy efforts are strategic, collaborative, and responsive to the needs of women across Indiana.
  • Partner closely with the Board of Directors to support strong governance practices.
  • Facilitate effective communication, provide strategic guidance, and ensure the Board has the information and resources needed to fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Support Board development, engagement, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a talented and diverse team, fostering a workplace culture rooted in respect, accountability, and inclusion.
  • Set clear expectations, support professional growth, and ensure that staff are empowered to achieve organizational goals.
  • Promote collaboration, innovation, and shared ownership of the mission.
  • Complete the modernization of internal systems, documentation, and workflows to match the organization's external reputation.
  • Lead or oversee resolution of the EveryAction database challenges.
  • Build an annual giving program and cultivate a broader individual donor base.
  • Complete the shift from working board to governing board, with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and committee structure between board, CEO, and staff.
  • Deepen reach beyond the Indianapolis metro through local ambassador models, listening sessions, and coalition partnerships.
  • Establish clear structures and resource allocation between the two entities, particularly as staff time is split across both.
