About The Position

Encompass Health is seeking a Hospital Chief Executive Officer to lead one of its inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. The CEO provides leadership to support seamless hospital operations, maintain financial stability, and advance the organization’s mission and objectives. The role includes overseeing hospital performance, patient census, and community marketing, while fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture. The CEO ensures the hospital operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, governing policies, Medical Staff policies and procedures, and Joint Commission standards. The position may require work on weekdays or weekends, evenings or night shifts, and scheduled religious or legal holidays.

Requirements

• Five years of management experience in the healthcare industry.
• At least 2–3 years of senior management experience.
• A master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related healthcare field is preferred; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with work experience equivalent to a master’s degree.
• Equivalent experience may be demonstrated through responsibilities involving hospital operations, budget development and oversight, marketing for volume growth, program development, FTE management, expense control, policy and procedure development and implementation, and regulatory-compliance processes.
• May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts.
• May be required to work scheduled religious and/or legal holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related healthcare field.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Governing Board and Medical Staff policies and procedures, and Joint Commission standards.
• Foster a work environment and culture that empowers the hospital and staff to fulfill the Encompass Health mission and exceed objectives.
• Oversee hospital operations and continually assess and improve hospital performance.
• Take responsibility for patient census and participate in marketing hospital services within the community.
• Promote and maintain an inclusive and diverse culture that respects everyone in the patient environment and workplace.
• Motivate the team and recognize its achievements.
• Oversee hospital operations, budget development and oversight, marketing for volume growth, program development, FTE management, expense control, policy and procedure development and implementation, and processes supporting regulatory compliance, as applicable to the candidate’s equivalent experience.
