About The Position

Provides executive leadership for the hospital, setting vision, strategy, and operational direction to achieve clinical excellence, strong financial performance, and market growth. Leads a high-performing management team, oversees financial and operational controls, ensures regulatory and accreditation compliance, and cultivates physician and partner relationships in alignment with the strategic plan approved by the Board of Managers. Collaborates closely with the Board of Managers on strategy, governance, and major transactions. Champions a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Builds strong relationships with physicians, payors, community partners, and health systems. Upholds strict confidentiality and ethical standards in all operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred (e.g., Business, Healthcare Operations/Management, or a clinical discipline).
  • Minimum five (5) years of successful healthcare management experience, preferably as a hospital/healthcare facility CEO/COO; rehabilitation hospital experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with med-surg hospitals and systems; strong understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF).
  • Strategic planning and execution; financial management; contract negotiation; physician/partner relations; data-driven decision-making; exceptional communication, influence, and team-building skills; commitment to superior clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, advice, guidance, and authorization to achieve clinical, operational, and financial goals.
  • Design, develop, and implement the strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Managers; translate strategy into measurable objectives and outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective operational controls, administrative processes, reporting systems, and performance dashboards.
  • Oversee the organization’s financial structure and results; review operating performance against targets and take corrective action when needed.
  • Recruit, motivate, develop, and retain a high-performance management team and provider partners; mentor leaders and build succession depth.
  • Ensure adequate provision of services through referrals, consultations, and contractual arrangements; negotiate, execute, administer, modify, and/or terminate contracts (including practitioner agreements) consistent with Board authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; Joint Commission, CARF, and other rehabilitation-specific standards; and the Hospital Compliance Plan.
  • Foster superior clinical outcomes, patient experience, and partner satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
