About The Position

The Chief Estimator leads the estimating team during the pre-construction phase of transportation construction projects. The role oversees estimating activities, manages cost estimates, and coordinates with other departments to develop accurate and competitive bids. It includes reviewing project specifications, conducting site visits, assessing project risks, preparing cost estimates and bids, and presenting proposals to clients. The Chief Estimator also works with vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, architects, and project teams to obtain pricing, negotiate terms, and identify cost-control and value-engineering opportunities. The position requires travel. Lemartec is a national general contractor and construction management firm founded in 1979 and part of MasTec’s General Building group within its Clean Energy and Infrastructure segment. It delivers projects in industrial, aviation, power, and large commercial markets, with capabilities and partnerships throughout the Americas and Caribbean. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a construction estimator.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Experience in Data Center Estimation.

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead estimators, providing guidance, training, and support.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture and allocate resources to meet project deadlines.
Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project requirements.
Conduct site visits to gather information relevant to estimating.
Identify potential project risks and challenges.
Develop accurate, comprehensive construction cost estimates using historical data, industry benchmarks, and market trends.
Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.
Prepare and submit competitive bids that comply with project specifications and requirements.
Coordinate with project management, business development, and other departments to finalize bid submissions.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Negotiate pricing and contract terms.
Work with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering options.
Monitor and control project costs during pre-construction.
Stay current with construction estimation software and tools, and use technology to improve the accuracy and efficiency of estimating.
Collaborate with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project goals and requirements.
Present cost estimates and proposals to clients clearly and professionally.
