About The Position

We are seeking a Chief Estimator to join our team in Chandler, AZ. Our estimating team is growing! This role oversees the cost estimates for various disciplines relating to large industrial construction projects. You and a team will leverage industry knowledge to review and negotiate fair value for change orders and provides business support to key stakeholders by way of budget values. In addition, there will be collaborative work with the project team to complete pricing and benchmarking research, while maintaining project documents and files. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of electronic takeoffs including On Screen Takeoff and 3D Models.
  • Working knowledge of commercially available construction cost estimating systems.
  • Understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designation such as RICS, CCE, CCM, AIA, PE, ASPE, AACEI, CVS, AVS, LEED AP, RA, or any appraisal licensure will add value to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage deliverables and provide guidance and QA/QC signoff prior to finalization.
  • Drive positive communication and collaboration amongst project teams and customer.
  • Have the ability to adapt in a high change environment.
  • Oversee and/or lead cost walks between estimate iterations and actuals.
  • Oversee and/or develop and manage contingency models and estimate scope summaries.
  • Validate and/or obtain accurate and up to date pricing information from databases, contractors, suppliers, etc. to utilize in estimates.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry norms and contracting strategies.
  • Oversee input estimate takeoff information for specific disciplines into custom software and develop unit cost pricing to align with standard methods of measurement.
  • Work with architects and engineers to develop clear understanding of project scope during preparation of estimate.
  • Develop relationships with members of A/E firms, contractors and wider project team members.
  • Challenge the team to continuously improve and become more efficient.
  • Seek ways to improve accuracy and efficiency of tasks.
  • Oversee and/or maintain project documents such as drawings and specifications in an organized and reasonable manner.
  • Maintains project files on file server in accordance with company standards.
  • Help maintain, update, and improve data costumer’s library of costs.
  • Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates and explains variance cost drivers.
  • Execute work with rigorous self-check QA, assists in QA for peer reviews.
  • Directly manage and supervise a team of estimators, including personal development reviews and ratings.
