About The Position

The Chief Engineer of the Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville Downtown leads the Engineering team to drive guest satisfaction by exceeding expectations. This role is responsible for maintaining the building, grounds, and mechanical equipment with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The Chief Engineer oversees all aspects of the hotel's Engineering department, including building and plant maintenance, grounds landscaping, guest and associate satisfaction, and ensuring engineering operations meet brand standards, customer needs, and maximize financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises maintenance persons, including hiring, firing, scheduling, performance evaluations, training, and development.
  • Establishes and maintains cost control systems for staffing, maintenance supplies, and maintenance equipment.
  • Enforces policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper key controls are in effect.
  • Ensures quality services are rendered to meet guest needs and enhance guest relations.
  • Schedules staff according to labor standards and forecasted occupancy.
  • Covers shifts when direct reports call out.
  • Maintains room quality based on hotel objectives.
  • Monitors and maintains the operating efficiency of all mechanical systems.
  • Outlines and implements a routine preventative maintenance program.
  • Manages hotel preparedness for emergencies.
  • Enforces standard procedures for key control.
  • Maintains productivity and labor cost goals.
  • Conducts inventories of tools and equipment.
  • Orders and receives supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Ensures staff interacts with guests in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
  • Rewards employees who use their empowerment to meet or exceed guest expectations.
  • Responds to guest maintenance requests and questions, resolving needs quickly and efficiently.
  • Trains, motivates, and supports subordinate staff to ensure quality service.
  • Counsels, coaches, disciplines, and documents performance of staff.
  • Organizes and participates in meetings and maintains records and data pertaining to Property.
  • Coordinates with outside contractors.
  • Maintains the quality of appearance of the interior and exterior of the hotel.
  • Is responsible for the safe operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures.
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by management.
