About The Position

The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the hotel is in great working order and meets all operational standards related to the Engineering Department. This role involves conducting assessments of the hotel's structure, systems, and equipment, managing the Preventive Maintenance Program for rooms and public areas, and collaborating with the hotel management team and General Manager. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, and counseling associates, ensuring the grounds are well-maintained for a positive guest arrival experience, and implementing the hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction.
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blue prints.
• Must be able to read and understand test equipment and measuring devices.
• Strong business communication skills verbal and written.
• Flexible to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work as and be part of a team that provides great experiences for guests.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the hotel is in great working order and meets all operational standards related to the Engineering Department.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assessment of maintenance and operation of the hotel structure, systems and equipment.
• Manage the Rooms and Public Area Preventive Maintenance Program and keep updated records.
• Work with all hotel management team and property General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel associates, including managers.
• Ensure grounds are maintained to provide a great arrival experience.
• Implement hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures, including removal of all safety hazards, following company's OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
