About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the hotel is in great working order and meets all operational standards related to the Engineering Department. The Chief Engineer will conduct walk-throughs and assessments of the maintenance and operation of the hotel structure, systems, and equipment. This position is responsible for the Rooms and Public Area Preventive Maintenance Program and maintaining updated records. The Chief Engineer will collaborate with the hotel management team and the property General Manager, and will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, and counseling associates, including managers. Additionally, this role ensures the grounds are maintained to provide a great arrival experience and implements the hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures, including hazard removal and adherence to OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.

Requirements

  • Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
  • Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blue prints. Read and understand test equipment and measuring devices
  • Strong business communication skills verbal and written
  • Flexible to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (6-8 hours a day)
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset
