The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing plant maintenance personnel and ensuring that machinery and support systems operate at maximum efficiency. This role involves overseeing preventive maintenance programs, monitoring adherence to food safety goals through the "Red Tag" program, and maintaining strong working relationships with all departments. The Chief Engineer is also tasked with training and cross-training mechanics in mechanical and electrical repairs, managing project jobs from start to finish, and ensuring compliance with safety, GMPs, security, and PPE policies. Additionally, the position requires administering disciplinary action, isolating repetitive line problems, and communicating pertinent issues and company policies. The Chief Engineer must be available during off shifts for breakdowns and contact during off hours, and will work closely with production line members, department management, leads, and machine operators.
