About The Position

This role is for a Chief Engineer at a brand-new YourSpace hotel in Chesapeake, VA, which opened in March 2026. Unlike typical chief engineer positions that involve deferred maintenance, this role focuses on establishing a preventive maintenance program for a new building and its systems, setting a standard that will be used for future YourSpace properties. The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing brand, with potential for career advancement within LTD Hospitality Group. The Chief Engineer will have significant ownership of the department, including managing the maintenance budget, selecting vendors, and participating in capital planning. LTD Hospitality Group has over 40 years of experience in hotel development and management.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as a hotel chief engineer, or senior maintenance leadership in hotels, multifamily, or extended-stay/serviced apartments where guest or resident service was critical.
  • Proficiency in multiple trades, including HVAC/PTAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall/paint, and appliance repair.
  • Ability to diagnose issues before dispatching external services.
  • A guest-first approach and strong communication skills for daily interaction with front desk, housekeeping, and residents.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 Universal certification.
  • Experience in extended-stay, apartment, or condo engineering.
  • Experience establishing a PM program, work-order system, or engineering department from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire physical asset of the building, including structure, appearance, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life-safety, and technology systems.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the preventive maintenance program, ensuring all guest suites, including kitchen appliances, are on a 90-day PM cycle.
  • Oversee warranty and vendor management, tracking new-build warranties, holding contractors accountable for punch lists, and managing outside vendors for scope, quality, and cost.
  • Respond to guest-related downtime issues within 30 minutes, ensuring a seamless handover to the front desk or GM when necessary.
  • Manage department expenses, including weekly supply inventory, purchasing within budget, and controlling maintenance spend to protect hotel profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with brand, state, federal, and local standards through routine property inspections, including amenity spaces and life-safety readiness.
  • Lead and develop technicians as the department grows, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Partner with the General Manager on capital planning, including identifying, scoping, and prioritizing capital expenditure projects.
