About The Position

The Chief Engineer ensures the hotel is in good working order and meets operational standards for the Engineering Department. The role oversees assessment and maintenance of the hotel’s structure, systems, equipment, rooms, public areas, and grounds. The Chief Engineer works with the hotel management team and General Manager, leads engineering associates and managers, and implements safety and emergency procedures.

Requirements

• Previous hotel engineering experience, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen, and general building construction.
• Vocational training, an associate’s degree, certification, and/or apprenticeship in one or more relevant areas; state certification or licensure where required.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Ability to read and understand test equipment and measuring devices.
• Strong verbal and written business communication skills.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Enjoy working as part of a team that provides great experiences for guests.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the hotel is in good working order and meets Engineering Department operational standards.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance and operation of the hotel structure, systems, and equipment.
• Manage the Rooms and Public Area Preventive Maintenance Program and keep its records updated.
• Work with the hotel management team and property General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach, and counsel associates, including managers.
• Ensure grounds are maintained to provide a welcoming arrival experience.
• Implement hotel safety and emergency policies and procedures, including evacuations and first aid.
• Remove safety hazards and follow the company’s OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
