About The Position

Loews Arlington Hotel is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to partner with the Complex Director of Engineering to maintain the property's optimal operational status. This leadership role involves guiding the Engineering team, managing preventative maintenance programs, and promoting operational excellence throughout the hotel. The Chief Engineer will be instrumental in staffing, training, troubleshooting, and reporting to safeguard hotel assets and ensure an exceptional guest experience. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a passion for precision, and has the expertise to lead with confidence.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Chief or Chief Engineer in a hotel or hospitality environment, with hands-on leadership and technical expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, life safety systems, and energy management operations.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and blue-line drawings for project execution and maintenance planning.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, equipment operations, and maintenance protocols, and effective record-keeping systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills with a focus on organizational effectiveness and clear communication.
  • Experience with computer-based management systems that streamline operations and track performance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, work on ladders, and lift/pull/push 50 plus pounds regularly throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal staffing levels and oversee daily workflows to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assign tasks, review completed work orders, and conduct inspections to uphold quality standards.
  • Collaborate with department heads to resolve maintenance-related guest concerns promptly.
  • Drive the timely execution of preventative maintenance programs to protect property assets.
  • Support engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues, providing guidance as needed.
  • Coordinate training initiatives to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Supervise daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Manage inventory for storeroom and maintenance supplies, maintaining accurate records.
  • Attend hotel meetings to stay aligned with property activities and interdepartmental priorities.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering with energy monitoring, equipment upkeep, and supply management.
  • Oversee administrative functions, including payroll processing, attendance tracking, corrective actions, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to key control, tool control, and security protocols in partnership with relevant teams.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards.
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
