About The Position

The Melrose Georgetown Hotel is seeking a Chief Engineer to ensure the hotel is in great working order and meets all operational standards related to the Engineering Department. This role involves conducting walk-throughs and assessments of the hotel's structure, systems, and equipment, managing the Rooms and Public Area Preventive Maintenance Program, and collaborating with the hotel management team and General Manager. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, and counseling associates, including managers, and ensuring the grounds are maintained to provide a great arrival experience. Additionally, this position requires implementing the hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures, including OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.

Requirements

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blue prints. Read and understand test equipment and measuring devices
• Strong business communication skills verbal and written
• Flexible to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
• Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
• Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
• Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset

• Ensure grounds are maintained in order to provide great arrival experience.
• Implement hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuations, first aid, etc.) including removal of all safety hazards, following company's OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
