About The Position

Chief Engineer (Hotel Maintenance) – Hampton Inn Gulfport Full Time | Hourly (Non‑Exempt) Opening April 2026 Hampton Inn Gulfport is seeking a skilled and reliable Chief Engineer to oversee all hotel maintenance and engineering operations. This is a hands‑on role responsible for maintaining the property’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life‑safety systems, as well as standard hotel laundry equipment. This position does not supervise a team — it is the primary engineering role for the hotel and is essential to ensuring a safe, well‑maintained, guest‑ready environment. A&R Group is a vertically integrated turn-key hospitality firm focused on developing and operating high-value hotels through partnerships with globally recognized hotel brands. Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hotel or building maintenance experience
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life‑safety systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and on‑call as needed
  • Reliable transportation
  • High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required—your foundation for success
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in hotel engineering, building maintenance, or civil engineering—you know your way around complex systems
  • 2–3 years of proven leadership or management experience—you’ve led teams and gotten results
  • Exceptional follow-through—you’re organized, efficient, and great at managing your time
  • Deep knowledge of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety—you’re the go-to problem-solver
  • Able to secure and maintain any required licenses, certificates, or permits to perform your role effectively
  • Reliable and committed—you're available when it counts, especially during challenging weather
  • Weekend and holiday availability is a must—hospitality never sleeps
  • Dependable transportation to and from the jobsite—punctuality is your trademark
  • Confident with tech—proficient in office software and mobile devices for communication and reporting

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC certification
  • CPO, CCE, or CME certifications
  • Experience with Hilton or other major hotel brands
  • A Bachelor of Science or college degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
  • Certifications in property maintenance or engineering, such as: Certified Chief Engineer (CCE) – National Association of Hotel & Lodging Engineers Certified Maintenance Employee (CME) – AHLEI Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) License HVAC License
  • Expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems—you’ve mastered the technical side
  • Experience leading engineering teams in hotel or large-facility settings—you know how to keep operations smooth
  • Strong familiarity with local building codes, safety guidelines, and environmental regulations

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on hotel systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire‑life safety).
  • Complete preventive maintenance (PM) on guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces.
  • Maintain and repair standard hotel laundry equipment (washers, dryers).
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and address issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate logs, PM schedules, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Support hotel opening tasks, punch lists, and system commissioning.
  • Ensure all work meets Hilton brand standards and safety regulations.
