About The Position

Assists the General Manager in ensuring that all areas of the hotel remain properly functional. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance work to ensure the hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained. Provided excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous professional manner; following LBA standards of friendly hospitality while adhering to guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • Company associates have access to guestrooms and property. As such, character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential to this position and must be displayed at all times.
  • Per company policy, potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.
  • Working knowledge of: preventative maintenance, electricity, ac and plumbing
  • Five to ten years as a maintenance engineer or technician or similar position
  • Must be able to perform major life activities: Standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
  • Must be able to push or pull 100 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, climb ladders, crawl, kneel and be low to the ground when necessary, sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate with other associates and/or guests.
  • Must be able to see and hear.
  • Knowledge of: The methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in a variety of building and mechanical trades.
  • Knowledge of: Occupational hazards in the use of power tools and equipment, and of necessary safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of: Repairs and maintenance of furniture and fixtures within the hotel.
  • Knowledge of: Safety and security measures.
  • Knowledge of: Report or correct any hazardous conditions observed immediately.
  • Knowledge of: Guidelines for training checklist of areas to be maintained.
  • Knowledge of: Procedures for emergencies Person In Charge.
  • Must be organized to maintain logs, bibles, checklists on schedule.
  • Use and care of hand and power tools and equipment appropriate to the area assignment.
  • Ability to assign and supervise the work of a few less experienced workers.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and upper management.
  • Comply to all standards.
  • Must be able to work as a team member.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, perform and document preventative maintenance program according to The Company and brand standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as well as general maintenance on property grounds.
  • Assist with guest issues, be professional and maintain a hospitable caring attitude.
  • Assign and supervise the work of a few less experienced workers.
  • Practice Safety Standards at all times.
  • Work within the budgetary guidelines.
  • Able to understand the importance of cost saving without sacrificing service.
  • Remain service centric.
  • Communicate professionally with guests and co-workers.
  • Exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy.
  • Oversee functioning of the facilities by walking property grounds regularly.
  • Interview and select new maintenance staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance staff, including discipline and retraining when necessary, in conjunction with handbook policies and procedures.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and defects in mechanical and similar equipment and to determine corrective measures and delegate repairs when applicable.
  • Perform general minor repairs to in house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment and HVAC systems.
  • Maintain facility using consistent preventative maintenance guidelines: check and ensure repairs are made to plumbing systems, electrical systems, building interior and exterior.
  • Conduct quality inspections of the property and make recommendations regarding safety, security and facility improvements.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely manner.
  • Train all maintenance staff and other designated associates in the responsibilities and safety.
  • Work with associates regarding their role in the upkeep, safety and security of the property.
  • Maintain all paperwork in accordance with LBA standards.
  • Help property management determine what tools, materials and equipment are necessary to maintain the property and perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure maintenance department and applicable staff have sufficient tools to do their jobs daily.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and within the realm of physical capabilities.
