The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and construction activities for a group of buildings. Specific responsibilities include work-scheduling of all account personnel, establishing work standards, conducting site evaluations/audits, overall inventory/equipment usage, budget control, troubleshooting/problem solving, customer relations, and special project work. The Chief Engineer will operate advanced building systems in a class A environment ensuring minimal downtime, read and understand complex drawings, ladder diagrams and schematics, and oversee and assign/coordinate work for the overall activities of a multi-trade maintenance force, including multiple building locations in a campus like setting. This includes the shared roadways, sidewalks, landscaping and parking structures. The role involves working in conjunction with the account manager to ensure all safety trainings are completed in a timely manner, overseeing the required timely preventive maintenance of all building systems via coordination of schedules and ensuring related repairs are executed in accordance with customer procedures and/or direction. The Chief Engineer will also oversee and monitor all BMS and energy monitoring platforms used at the properties, and at times assist with the completion of water treatment and testing. Ensuring work order documentation is completed in a timely manner, establishing/maintaining work performance standards, conducting quality assurance checks, and managing materials inventory are key aspects of the role. The position requires coordinating and controlling special project work, resolving on-site service delivery problems, participating in ongoing technical skill development training programs, and maintaining effective ongoing customer relations. Daily/weekly logs of any ongoing construction work must be maintained, and the Chief Engineer will attend construction meetings and supervise all construction work to ensure work is completed per engineered specifications. Proactively identifying to building ownership any capital projects that may need to be performed, regularly meeting with the customer and executing written and/or oral communication according to customer’s needs, and assisting less skilled employees with training and development are also essential. Attending trainings and classes in order to further enhance knowledge where applicable is expected.
