About The Position

The Chief Engineer is responsible for all working matters under the operations and maintenance of building systems at CMI’s customer site in Des Moines, Iowa. This role acts as the onsite first-line supervisor to O&M staff and is responsible for the building’s systems including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and supervision of technicians. The Chief Engineer performs Preventive Maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working order, reduce downtime, and prevent breakdowns. This is a full-time, on-call position requiring the individual to be onsite and available to respond to emergencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in supervising and directing building operations and maintenance of equipment for a singular federal facility of at least 500,000 square feet
  • Shall possess one or more of the following certifications: NATE HVAC Service Technician Certification, HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification, or UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification
  • Must maintain a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education per year from either NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star recognized provider program
