About The Position

Southwestern Healthcare is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer to lead the organization’s compliance, privacy, and regulatory initiatives. This on-site executive leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing an effective compliance and privacy program that promotes ethical conduct, regulatory adherence, operational integrity, and organizational accountability across the organization. The Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors on compliance, privacy, risk management, and regulatory matters affecting behavioral healthcare operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Risk Management, Law, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of healthcare experience required.
  • Certification (CHC, CHPC, or CCEP) required either upon hire or within 12–24 months of employment.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare compliance regulations, privacy laws, and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with employees, leadership, regulatory agencies, and Board members.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet organizational driving requirements.

  • Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, or other advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the organization’s corporate compliance and privacy program.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes and provide guidance to leadership and operational teams.
  • Conduct internal audits, monitoring activities, risk assessments, and investigations related to compliance and privacy concerns.
  • Develop and oversee corrective action plans and monitor ongoing compliance efforts.
  • Provide regular compliance reporting and updates to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead organizational compliance, ethics, privacy, and risk management training initiatives.
  • Chair the Compliance Committee and collaborate with multidisciplinary leadership teams.
  • Serve as the organization’s Civil Rights Coordinator/Section 1557 Coordinator.
  • Supervise compliance, billing/coding audit, and health information management functions.
