About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a Division Chief of Child Protection to provide visionary leadership in advancing clinical care, education, research, and community engagement related to child abuse pediatrics. This is a full-time, non-tenure or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Division Chief will lead and further develop a comprehensive Child Protection Team (CPT) program, serving a critical role in delivering multidisciplinary care for children affected by abuse and neglect. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic growth, program development, quality improvement, and collaboration with institutional and community partners.

Requirements

  • MD or DO, or equivalent.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)
  • Subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Child Abuse Pediatrics (ABP)
  • Eligibility for Florida medical licensure
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership and program development
  • Strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, education, and advocacy

Nice To Haves

  • Established record of program development or expansion in child protection or child abuse pediatrics
  • Academic accomplishments consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level
  • Experience working with funded child protection teams or state-funded programs (e.g., CPT model)
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, quality improvement work, or research in child maltreatment

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clinical leadership for the Division of Child Protection and Child Abuse Pediatrics program
  • Develop, expand, and sustain a comprehensive, multidisciplinary child protection program aligned with institutional and state priorities
  • Oversee clinical services, including inpatient and outpatient consultation for suspected abuse and neglect
  • Foster collaborations with state agencies, legal systems, law enforcement, and community partners
  • Lead efforts in program innovation, quality improvement, and outcomes evaluation
  • Support and mentor faculty, trainees, and interdisciplinary staff
  • Contribute to the academic mission through teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Participate in departmental and college leadership initiatives
