About The Position

The Chief Cashier is responsible for counting and verifying daily cash receipts from individual cashiers, running reports in various point-of-sale systems for reconciliation, and documenting the reconciliation of all cash receipts to the PMS system. This role also involves distributing cash gratuities, consolidating and preparing bank deposits, providing change to hotel personnel, preparing petty cash summaries, and compiling daily paid-out reports. Additionally, the Chief Cashier will audit and count hotel floats quarterly, prepare monthly summaries of float counts, maintain house bank agreements, handle guest inquiries regarding billing, reconcile banquet billing, and cover accounts payable and accounts receivable duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years recent (in the last five years) combined experience in Accounting and/or Front Office in a hotel of comparable size and level of guest service
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation
  • Completely fluent English language skills; both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated a high level of responsibility and commitment
  • A clear, precise, polite and helpful telephone manner
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • A team player with proven success in relationship building
  • Commitment to provide excellent service and exceed guests' expectations
  • Proficiency of Opera Cloud, MS Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Must be recommended on the Heart of the House SRI
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Count and verify daily cash receipts submitted from individual cashiers
  • Run reports in various point of sales systems to reconcile against
  • Document the reconciliation of all cash receipts to the PMS system
  • Distribute cash gratuities several times per week
  • Consolidate and prepare bank deposits on a timely basis
  • Provide change to personnel with hotel floats
  • Prepare a petty cash summary and reimburse petty cash expenditures
  • Compile daily paid out report
  • Audit and count quarterly all hotel floats
  • Prepare a monthly summary of float counts
  • Maintain current house bank agreements
  • Answer guest emails and phone calls re billing matters
  • Reconcile banquet billing
  • Coverage of accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
  • Other duties as assigned
