About The Position

BBA Afterschool Inc. is hiring energetic and reliable After-School Instructors to teach either Chess or STEM to elementary-aged students in fun, structured enrichment programs throughout Prince George's County. This is an excellent opportunity for college students interested in education, engineering, computer science, mathematics, science, child development, or related fields. If you enjoy working with children and creating an engaging learning environment, we'd love to hear from you. We are currently hiring instructors to teach either Chess or STEM programs.

Requirements

• Comfortable working with children in grades K through 5
• Reliable transportation to schools throughout Prince George's County
• Dependable and punctual
• Must successfully complete the required Prince George's County Public Schools background check and fingerprinting process

Nice To Haves

• Experience playing or teaching Chess, or experience with STEM subjects, is preferred but not required
• College students pursuing majors such as: Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Child Development, Psychology, Any STEM-related field
• Chess players or chess club members
• STEM tutors or mentors
• Teachers, substitute teachers, and instructional assistants
• College students with strong analytical or technical skills
• Anyone passionate about inspiring young learners

Responsibilities

• Teach elementary students either Chess or STEM activities
• Follow BBA's structured curriculum and lesson plans
• Create a fun, safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Supervise groups of approximately 15 to 25 students
• Encourage critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and teamwork
• Communicate professionally with school staff and BBA leadership
