About The Position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school enrichment program. This role involves leading fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students, teaching chess fundamentals, promoting good sportsmanship, and managing a classroom environment. Instructors will use a structured curriculum, encourage problem-solving and critical thinking, and follow school safety protocols. The position requires travel to various local school sites and a commitment to punctuality and reliability.

Requirements

Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions.
Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor.
Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
Strong grasp of chess fundamentals (piece movement, basic strategy, simple tactics).
Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life problem-solving.
Reliable personal transportation and the ability to drive between locations.
Availability on weekday afternoons, with class start times falling within the 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM window, to teach 1–5 classes per week.
Commitment to implementing school safety protocols.
Strong punctuality and time-management skills.
