Cherry Picker

Jealous Fruits Ltd.Kelowna, BC
Onsite

About The Position

If you are looking for a dynamic job opportunity and plan to spend the summer amidst the incredible Okanagan landscapes, then look no further! Come join us and be a part of a diverse and incredible picking team at Jealous Fruits. We are currently planning our 2026 cherry picking season and hope that you will consider picking for us this season. Our base picking rate this season is currently set for 0.325/lbs. This base piece rate maybe subjected to an increase after we review our crop and projected harvest tonnage in June. Our pickers pick all fruit off of the trees and move full totes of cherries to the loading rows. Sorting of the cherries is left our premium packing plant where we have the latest and greatest technology. This enables our pickers to focus on picking with quality and safety in mind and optimizing how much they can pick in a day. On average, our pickers pick 25 totes per day (20lbs per tote), with a potential of 40-45 totes per day! The daytime temperatures in the Okanagan Valley during the picking season can be extremely high. Hence, we often pick during cool temperatures at night. The quality of the fruit picked is of an utmost importance to us and picking during cooler night temperatures has significantly improved the quality of the cherries picked. This is not only good for the fruit but also impacted the health and safety our employees who no longer have to work in the heat of the day. Key harvest time is July 25- August 25th with one day off every 7 days. On your day off go enjoy the Okanagan summer at some of the best beaches in the Okanagan Valley or taste some wine at the local winery. We have camp accommodation available for all our pickers/ backpackers. The camp fee for the 2026 season is $250. The camp fee is fully refundable if you stay until the end of harvest. Please ensure you bring your own tent and sleeping amenities. You can set up your tent under the Poplars. Our camp facilities include showers, washrooms and a communal kitchen, ice machines and a weekly grocery bus. We have a strict no pet policy at all camps, facilities, and orchards due to food safety regulations. We are offering an LOA of $25 per working day to all our backpackers who will stay in our backpackers’ camp. This will be paid to staff who stay until end of harvest. At the end of the season this amount will be added to your final paycheque. To help our staff book a flight home or to continue with their travels. We are offering a Relocation Fee of $300 (with minimum days worked) also for our experienced workers who stay until the end of harvest. Anyone who can legally work in Canada can apply for this job.
