About The Position

Our site in Danbury is seeking a Chemistry Technician to join our QC Analytics & Metrology team. This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes for ALD Coatings and the Specialty Gas business unit of the Material Solutions division. The ideal candidate will be diligent, results-oriented and an excellent team player, with knowledge in safe lab practices. The shift for this position will start on 1st (typically 8AM – 5PM) for training but primarily move to a split shift (12PM-8PM) – hours may be flexible within this timeframe and OT may be required on an as needed basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in analytical instrument operation and data analysis or experience in a lab environment.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials.
  • Team player attitude with a desire for excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Flexible - ability to rapidly respond to new situations and perform multiple tasks.
  • Self-starter and comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to focus and pay special attention to details to ensure quality results.
  • Good communication and coordination abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks/projects in parallel.
  • Ability to complete lab work safely.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient at several analytical techniques.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in method development preferred.
  • Certifications or training in Six Sigma, Semi, ISO, etc. preferred.
  • Experience with safe handling of gas cylinders and operation of gas manifolds preferred.
  • Experience with XRF, Ellipsometer and/or nano indentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The role will primarily involve operating physical testing lab equipment including XRF, Ellipsometer and nano indentation for ALD Coatings with the addition of several gas phase analytical techniques including FTIR, CRDS, GC-DID, GC-PDHID, and GC-TCD
  • Safely perform routine lab testing to support existing products, new product development and customer requests in a timely manner
  • Handle gas cylinders, operate gas manifolds and analytical instruments, report results and recognize issues as they arise
  • Participate in MSA studies for detection limits, accuracy, precision and stability for analytical methods
  • Set up and execute experiments - analyze data and communicate results to the team
  • Maintain and support lab practices per relevant ISO 17025 and 9001 requirements
  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation including Ellipsometer, iNano, GC, FTIR etc.
  • Participate in Pre-Safety Start Up Reviews (PSSRs), Job Safety Assessments (JSAs) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEAs) of processes as needed
