The Chemistry Laboratory Technician at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology supports instructional and research operations within the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department. This involves setting up, operating, testing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing laboratory equipment and associated computer systems. The technician is responsible for ensuring laboratory spaces are clean, functional, and properly prepared by managing work areas, supplies, and equipment readiness. They set up and validate a variety of laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and procedures in adherence to established protocols, institutional standards, and safety regulations. Additionally, the technician assists and instructs faculty and students on the safe and effective use of laboratory equipment, tools, and instructional technologies. They provide technical support for instructional laboratories, research activities, capstone projects, and independent studies, troubleshooting issues and ensuring safe and efficient project execution. The role also includes consulting with faculty on equipment needs, modifications, or adaptations for demonstrations or instruction, and implementing teaching aids and laboratory support materials to enhance the learning experience.
