About The Position

This position is for a Federal Work-Study Student Assistant in the Chemistry & Biochemistry department. The student will work under the direction of department technicians, completing safety training, preparing reagents and solutions, cleaning lab equipment and spaces, preparing samples for teaching labs, stocking supplies, and assisting students and faculty at the stockroom window. The role requires the ability to lift 25 lbs and knowledge of Biology or Chemistry.

Requirements

• Communicate effectively with all levels
• Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position
• Admission or registration as a CSU student
• Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative
• Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
• International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Social Security Card

Responsibilities

• Complete safety training and safe laboratory practices
• Prepare reagent bottles and solutions
• Push/pull cart to move laboratory preparations and equipment between locations
• Clean glassware and laboratory prep space
• Prepare unknown samples for teaching labs
• Assist with stocking equipment in labs and student drawers
• Work the stockroom window to assist students and faculty
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Benefits

• Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
